Kaitlin Ryder

My name is Kaitlin Ryder and I'm a former NCAA Division 1 student-athlete. I played softball at the University of Texas at El Paso for four years.  While at UTEP, I was voted team captain my junior and senior season.  For the Miners, I played a total of 198 games; starting in 181 games at catcher, outfield, or as the designated player. I saw the plate 547 times as a Miner.

I finished my career with a batting average of .335, totaling 183 hits... with 18 of those hits being home runs.  A slugging percentage of .501, an on-base percentage of .405, and a total fielding percentage of .972.
Weights and conditioning were also an important aspect in my overall performance.  I excelled in the weight room, holding records in Bench Press, Hang Clean, Back Squat, and Deadlift.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from UTEP.  I continued my education at Arizona State University where I earned a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions.

During my four years at UTEP,  I earned multiple scholastic and athletic honors, including:

  • C-USA Player and Hitter of the Week (05/07/2018)

  • 2017 UTEP Softball Most Valuable Player

  • 2017 All-C-USA Second Team

  • 2017 C-USA Preseason Team

  • C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018)

  • NFCA Scholar-Athlete (2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17)

  • UTEP GPA: 3.69

  • ASU GPA: 3.36

Prior to UTEP, I played high school softball at Chatsworth Charter High School in Los Angeles, California.  During my senior season, we had the honor of playing in the City Section Division 1 Championship at UCLA.  During high school travel ball, I played on OC Batbusters 18U Gold, SoCal Pumas, American Pastime, and I finished my high school travel ball experience with SoCal 3D.

I earned multiple accolades including:
All-City First Team
West Valley First Team
Most Valuable Player
Offensive Player of the Year

I have worked with athletes in Texas, California, and Oregon; ranging from the ages of 10-18, both male and female.  In 2018, I was an assistant softball coach for the 14U NW Bullets, a nationally ranked top 25 team.  I coach all positions on the field.  However, I specialize in catching, outfield, and hitting.

Not only do I believe in the physicality of the athlete, but I place an emphasis on the mentality an athlete needs in order to be successful.  I ensure that the athletes that I work with are prepared for adversity, hardships, the game, and most importantly, life.
