- Kayla Bailey | Southern Oregon Blackout Softball
Coach Kayla Bailey (14U) <<< Back I have been coached/skilled by many influential mentors and athletes through my years with little league, fast pitch, and collegiate fast pitch. When I found out at a young age the extent of passion I felt for this game, I knew I wanted to do whatever necessary to be a collegiate player. When I became a collegiate player and graduated, I knew now that my next step would be giving back what I have learned and experienced and be as influential as my mentors and coaches before me. My coaching philosophy dials down to two things: Education and mental strength. You can teach over and over the mechanics and give players tools to be successful physically, but what defers a good athlete to a great athlete is mental toughness. I believe I was only as great as my mind allowed me to be. Corban University | Rachel Martin - Salem, OR 01/2018 - 06/2020 I transferred to Salem University to extend my education and continue to obtain my bachelor's degree in Forensic Psychology. While succeeding in my educational journey, I was given the opportunity to continue to be a starting catcher and clean-up hitter. I graduated on the dean's list Spring of 2020. Due to the COVID pandemic, our spring season was cut short. My last at bat as a collegiate athlete was a grand slam to end my senior season as a collegiate student athlete. Simpson University | Wayne Stower - Redding, CA 08/2016 - 01/2018 During my two years with Simpson University, Coach Stower led us to the NAIA National Tournament while being ranked 7th in the nation. I was the starting catcher for 2 years while attending school obtaining my degree in Psychology. in 2017, I was given the honor of receiving All-Pac Defensive Catcher of the Year for 2016/17 season. All American 18U Gold | Kelly Jackson - Sacramento, CA 01/2014 - 07/2016 Kelly Jackson is a former All-Pac-10 player who won a gold medal with the 1992 USA Olympic Team and was a 1996 USA Olympic Team finalist. She has been instrumental in my growth as an athlete on and off of the playing field. She gave me intense mental training to become a collegiate athlete and be successful at all aspects of the game.
